Pinot Nero dell'Oltrepò Pavese DOC 2018 CONTE VISTARINO

Description
Costa del Nero is the Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC Conte Vistarino, whose name comes from the homonymous hill dedicated to black grapes in the Rocca dè Giorgi estate in Lombardy. Among the characteristics of this wine stand out the intense ruby red, the typical hint of red fruits, and the good mineral finish. Fermentation takes place in steel and only partially in wood before bottling. Elegant and soft on the palate, the aroma of red fruits and the intense ruby colour are surprising, with gentle tannis this exceptional wine is an ideal match for roast turkey and chicken.

Family history
The family, which for many centuries has owned an extensive vineyard in Rocca de'Giorgi , has long played an active role in improving the quality of the wines of the Valle Scuropasso, using the best of the most modern technology. In this way they have helped to improve the reputation of the wines of the Oltrepo Pavese, the area south of Pavia. Carlo Giorgi di Vistarino introduced the Pinot Nero grape to Oltrepo Pavese between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century and won awards in London and Paris with the sparkling wines produced. His work was continued by Ottaviano and Carlo and is now in the hands of Ottavia Giorgi di Vistarino. The goal remains the same: to produce elegant, authentic wines that express their terroir.

Philosophy

The Giorgi di Vistarino estate extends over 826 hectares, mostly in the municipality of Rocca de' Giorgi, and has remained faithful to the agricultural traditions and style of the great nineteenth-century wineries. Their family's dedication to the land and its values has meant that the estate preserves both the landscape and the wildlife.
