Syrah IGT Toscana "Podere Le Vizzate" 2015 TENUTA DI CANNETO

Description
The grapes come from the vineyard of Vizzate, from which the wine takes its name, and where the vine can best express its qualities.
Fermentation takes place in truncated conical French oak tanks at a controlled temperature for a period of about 15-18 days. Part of the wine ages in concrete tanks and part in barriques for a period of about twelve months.
On the nose, a firework of spicy and fruity aromas (black pepper, oriental spices, dark berries), wonderfully accompanied by aromas of cocoa beans, tamarind and toast. Generous, lively mouthfeel, of wonderful balance and persistence, with an elegant tannic structure that makes an incredible pairing with roasted or grilled red and white meat dishes, fillet with green pepper and pasta with meat sauce and/or mushrooms.

Family history
In the northern part of the Maremma, on the slopes of the metalliferous hills and behind the much better known Bolgheri, is the Tenuta di Canneto. Born from the unification of 18 different farms, the estate extends over a thousand hectares of which only thirty are vineyards. Purchased in 1987, it was only in the early 2000s that the first vineyards were planted. A relatively recent enological history, therefore. The great advantage of having such a vast surface area available was that it allowed the vineyards to be planted in places considered to be the best both from the point of view of the soil and the microclimate. The soil is mainly clayey but there are areas rich in minerals; a part of the estate extends, in fact, on the grounds of an old manganese mine. The climate is cool and always blown by the wind, which during the summer period mitigates the heat of the sun and avoids the formation of stagnant humidity, which is always harmful to the cultivation of the vine.

Philosophy

In an area of rolling hills, between the river valley Sterzae of Cornia, Tenuta di Canneto gathers eighteen fields on a total area of 1,000 hectares, 30 of which are used for the cultivation of the screw. The selection of the vineyards patchy is the result of a careful scientific research on the analysis of the soil and exposure, on the basis of which have been clonal selection of vineyards with the most excellent cru. Constantly updated, the cellar has a grape sorting line that allows you to carry only the winery excellence of the vineyard. From low-capacity tanks are cut off to the fermentation of each plot of Syrah, Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Breeding is a historic activity of the Canneto estate, its famous Chianina meat that many fans deny.
