Our Guide to the Best Wine Spring Activities

Spring is the time of new beginnings, longer days and milder weather - the best time to spend time outdoors. To exercise, to feel better or just to breathe clean air, surround yourself with greenery and try new and fun things.

People wear lighter clothes and rediscover the joy of being outside. Spring brings us joy, happiness and hearts are open to new feelings.

It's the perfect time to get outside and discover new activities!

We've selected 8 springtime outdoor activities to suit all tastes (and budgets).

  1. Have lunch on the terrace or in the garden and enjoy the first warm rays of the sun.

  2. Start with physical activities. Find something you like and do it... consistently. The hardest thing is to start, but if it's right for you, you'll never give it up. Even a short walk during lunch break can make a difference

  3. And since consistent exercise always goes hand in hand with good, healthy eating, you can plan your wellness week around the dinner table... And don't forget a bottle of wine! Wines that go well with spring dishes add a fresh touch to any meal. As the days get longer and the air gets warmer, the best way to celebrate the arrival of spring is to enjoy all of its flavours and pair them with wine...but which wine should you choose.
If you opt for a risotto with porcini mushrooms, they go perfectly with Chianti Classico, which enhances their earthy flavour and gives a soft, supple feel on the palate.
The quintessential spring ingredient is actually asparagus.
It's an intense, earthy flavour and therefore needs a wine as brilliant as Sauvignon Blanc: the citrus and green apple of this white wine perfectly complement the flavour profile of asparagus.
Broad beans are also a popular spring vegetable, especially when paired with pecorino cheese: a great, fresh and tasty classic of Italian culinary tradition that pairs well with a Barbaresco, which brings out all the flavours of the broad beans and the pecorino cheese.
And to finish the meal, chocolate cakes go well with a glass of Vin Santo, a full-bodied dessert wine that ignites the flavours and adds intense nuances of hazelnut, caramel and honey to an already strong combination.
The right combinations set the stage for fantastic food and wine experiences, and spring is the perfect time to experiment with new combinations.
    1. Outdoor activities like cycling and long walks are also a way to share beautiful places with our children. There are so many things to see, all you need is a little imagination and a lot of desire.

    2. Get out the most summery and colourful cushions and clear the plaids off the sofas. The house is also changing season and skin and spring should be breathed in as soon as you cross the threshold of your home to give you a new "welcome". Fresh flowers on the table, a more colourful rug, cushions on the sofa... a few details in the kitchen.

    3. Fruit that's in season in spring is delicious. Stock up. Strawberries and berries are very popular with our family, and we've no shortage of delicious smoothies, starting with breakfast, which is the main meal, but also for snacks in between or during an aperitif pairing with a Rosé! The scents in the house also adapt to the season. The winter candles are put away and space is made for more floral scents and fresher colours.

    1. An invitation to a barbecue at a friend's house is part of spring for me. It's a must, I'd say, and it's a very nice time. Everyone can bring their favourite wines and you can have a wine tasting! Take advantage of the great selection here at IT: red, white and rosé wines for every palate. You can also bring wines from another region to enjoy the diversity of Italian regions. If you don't know what to choose, check out our Wine Map!

    2. Spring is the perfect time to visit art cities.

After a period of isolation due to COVID, now is the best time to travel again and discover new and beautiful places.
You can plan a beautiful tour of Tuscany, preferably by car, to fully enjoy the green meadows of the Val D'orcia at this time, a very intense visual relaxation. A visit to Tuscany wouldn't be complete without tasting some of its wines! Although many people associate this region exclusively with Chianti, there are numerous "wine roads" with variations on this theme: Vernaccia, Brunello, there are over 200 different types of wine! Have you been to Tuscany? Italy is a land rich in vineyards and wine cellars. Its particular geographical formation allows you to have vineyards in all regions from the north to the south! Just choose from the map

What're your favourite activities at this time of the year?
